Thanks very much to Linda for her interesting presentation last night at the Ely Library. We could tell she put a lot of work into it. About 40 people came to hear about the history of Western and Shueyville and we were pleased with the turn out. Thanks also to the Ely Public Library for hosting this event.10/11/2017

New Sign For Fackler's Grove Cemetery
On June 1, 2017 we installed a gate sign at Fackler's Grove Cemetery. In the middle of the sign is a box holding pamphlets filled with information about the graves and the people who are buried there.
As stated elsewhere in this blog, the cemetery is located in the middle of private land, down a long lane. We thank Dennis Erenberger for allowing access to the cemetery. Visitors should telephone 319-270-3836 to ask for permission to visit the cemetery.

Help identify
Hazel Green country school
This photo is from Vern and Kay Erenberger and shows children in front of Hazel Green School. The Erenbergers recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Kay said that this is the first time they met. Kay is the small girl on the left in the front row and Vern is the boy in the suit at the far right of the second row. We could use some help with the identities of the other children. Be sure to click the photo to enlarge it!
